Child & Adolescent Counseling
As children grows and mature, they are unavoidably faced with
challenges to their emotional, social and academic success and well-being. Misbehaviour is often a sign of the challenges that they face with peers, siblings, teachers or parents. Adolescence is a particularly difficult stage of life. Adolescents must grapple with pressure from their peers, body image pressure, drugs, alcohol, sexuality and emerging adult identity issues.
Through counseling, we will work together to:
- Understand the root of the ‘problem’ behaviour
- Focus on teaching the child adaptive skills and strategies to replace those ineffective thoughts and behaviours that are creating conflict
- Develop healthy coping strategies that will help reduce the impact of life’s unavoidable challenges and stressors.
I have extensive experience and training working with children and adolescents over the years as a counselor. As a professional who has two
children of her own who are in their teens, I have had first hand knowledge of the
problems children, adolescents and families face daily.
Common issues include:
- Self-Esteem
- Co-operation
- Assertiveness Training
- Bullying/Victimization
- Fears/Phobias
- School Avoidance
- Soiling
- Adjusting to Divorce/Separation
|
- Peer Pressure
- Eating Disorders
- Self-Destructive Behaviour
- Sexual Identity
- Rebellion
- Managing Emotions
- Social Skills

Together we will develop strategies for a healthy and loving family!
Testimonials
Thank you for all your patience. You made me feel very comfortable when I talked to you. I will continue to use the skills you taught in our sessions. Thanks.
N.S. Age 11
Thank you so much for the professional and caring manner in which you have helped our daughter to achieve her full potential with little or no stress.
We have found that although she is one of the best behaved children we have ever met; as a pre-teen she can not always see the value of her parents' wisdom. Even though she hears virtually the same message from you as you coach her as she would hear from us; she can accept it from you as a third party, and use it to move forward.
Your manner has always been non-threatening to us as parents, and of course to our daughter. The results are night and day.
We will continue to call on your coaching skills as we need it and as our daughter grows and faces new life challenges that to her seem insurmountable.
Thanks again for all your caring help.
